SOLUTION

TO CHOOSE THE CORRECT OPTION

The ratio of A’s age to B’s is 6 : 7. The product of their ages is 672. The ratio of their ages after 6 years

a. 6 : 7

b. 5 : 7

c. 7 : 8

d. None of the above

EVALUATION

Here it is given that ratio of A’s age to B’s is 6 : 7

Let A's age = 6x and B's age = 7x

Now it is given that the product of their ages is 672

So by the given condition

6x.7x = 672

⇒ 42x² = 672

⇒ x² = 16

⇒ x = 4

∴ A's age = 24 years and B's age = 28 years

After 6 years

A's age = 30 years

B's age = 34 years

Hence the required ratio

= 30 : 34

= 15 : 17

FINAL ANSWER

Hence the correct option is

d. None of the above
