The rational number which when subtracted from y gives z
Y=5/12 & z= 7/18
Let a be the unknown rational number
This means that ;
Y-a=z
ie, 5/12 - a = 7/18
In my text book they solved this using the following steps;
, 5/12 - a = 7/18
= -a=7/18 -5/12 and my doubt is how a became (-a) and when LHS is moved into right hand side of = , the operation sign will change.but here it remains the same....
Plz explain my doubts immediately in simple language

Answer:
value of A =1/36
Explain :--
5/12-A=7/18
It means
5/12-7/18 = A
(Change the side of 'A' & 7/18)
So
A= (15-14)/36
(Subtraction of fraction)
thus
we get A = 1/36
