Given  : The ratios of the quantities of Assam tea and Darjeeling tea in the mixed tea in two similar caskets are 5:18 and 2:3.

To Find : Which casket contains more Assam tea

Solution:

Assume that each  caskets  contains  115x   Tea

First casket

Assam tea = ( 5/(5 + 18)) * 115x   =  25x

Darjeeling tea  = ( 18/(5 + 18)) * 115x   =  90x

Second casket

Assam tea = ( 2/(2 + 3)) * 115x   =  46x

Darjeeling tea  = ( 3/(2 + 3)) * 115x   = 69x

46x >   25x

Hence 2nd casket contains more Assam tea
