Ethane is a molecule with formula CH3-CH3 and that of ethene is CH2=CH2. So conversion of ethane to ethene is basically a dehydrogenation reaction. Ethane can be reacted with Br2 gas in presence of NBS(N-Bromosuccinamide) which would yield molecules of Bromoethane.
