During colonial period Britishers introduced education system in India.

British Indian was a huge empire and to administer and run it effectively they need large number of workers

in clerical, police , military and other jobs.

positions at higher ranks( ICS ) were filled by Europeans and Britishers but below officer grade workers

requirement can't be met with them alone .

so Britishers introduced education system to train us and make Indians fit for clerical and many other works ( below 1st grade).

later Indians were even recruited as 1st grade officers as ICS.
