Till date, India has won 09 gold medals in Olympics, out of which 08 gold medals have been won in field hockey event only. Last gold medal in hockey was won during Moscow Olympic games in 1980. Overall, India has won 28 medals in the Olympic Games. India’s overall rank during the 2012 Olympics was 56 out of a total of 83 competing countries and its rank in 2016 was 67th out of 118 countries.

it's due to :-

- Lack of Funds

- Lack of International Standards Infrastructure

- Lack of International Competitions

- Lack of Long Term Planning

- Lack of Grassroots Programmes

- Lack of Sports Education in School

- Ineffective Participation

- Lack of Practices of Sports Science & Performance Analysis

- Lack of Sports Culture

“The present system requires thorough overhauling, especially in the areas of sports science and monitoring,”

The scope of work in the current sports industry is huge, I urge all the youngsters who are wishing to pursue the sports as a career to explore the field of Sports Science and learn the latest practices & help the country develop towards a sporting superpower in terms of sports culture and towards winning more medals at Olympics & developing more sports individuals.
