The recent increase in crimes against people of the Northeast, especially in the cities, has highlighted the growing problem faced by the community. Fear of violence continues to worry them. Write a letter in 100-120 words to the Editor of The Times of India expressing your concern over the recent death of a young student resulting from a racial comment against people from Northeast. Suggest what steps the government should take to solve this problem. You are Aanchal/Aryan, a resident of A-12, East of Kailash, N. Delhi. Hints: racial comments, attacks – rude behaviour, hurt feelings of our own fellow citizens – disharmony – dents the image of our country – steps to solve this problem.

Subject: Recent Increase in Crimes Against People from North East

Dear Sir/Ma'am

Through the columns of our esteemed daily, I would like to highlight the issue of the growing discriminations and thereby problems faced by the citizens of North-East India.

The Constitution of India gives equality to all it's citizens but in recent times, there has been an increase in crimes and violence against these people. This rude behavior hurts the feelings of our own fellow citizens. India is vast country with a variety of cultures and different types of people. The citizens of the country should be made aware of this fact and learn to respect all, and if possible, provides facilities and help to such areas. If the disharmony continues, it will only dent the image of the country.

The government should take stringent action against those who engage in antisocial activities against people from the northeast. The people should be given proper awareness about the need of equality among people living in same society and police should give protection to people belonging to north east to ensure their safe living.

Yours Truly

Aanchal/Aryan
