Answer:

Let length and breadth the field are l and b respectively. Then,

l=2b−8⇒2b=8+l⟶(1)

The perimeter of the rectangular field =56 m

⇒2(l+b)=56m⇒2l+2b=56m

from (1), we get

2l+8+l=56⇒3l=48⇒l=16m

∴ Length of rectangular field =16m

Breadth of rectangular field =

2

16+8

=12m

Given :

  • The rectangular field is 8 m less than twice its breadth.
  • The perimeter of the field is 56 m.

To find :

  • the length and breadth.

Solution :

⇒ Let's find the length and breadth.

  • Breadth = x
  • Length = 2x - 8

→ Perimeter = 2 (l + b)

→ 56 = 2 (2x - 8 + x)

→ 56 ÷ 2 = 2x - 8 + x

→ 28 = 2x - 8 + x

→ 28 = 3x - 8

→ 3x = 28 + 8

→ 3x = 36

→ x = 36/3

→ x = 12

∴ x = 12 cm

Breadth = 2x - 8

= 2 × 12 - 8

= 24 - 8

= 16 cm

Length = x

= 12 cm

  • Therefore, the length and breadth of the rectangular field are 16 cm and 12 cm.
