SUMMARY OF THE RED HEADED LEAGUE:
Scene-1
- In the first scene we are introduced to three characters; Sherlock Holmes- a famous detective, Jabez Wilson- a red headed shopkeeper, Dr. Watson- a doctor and Sherlock's friend who have accompanied Sherlock in many cases..
- Jabez Wilson had come to Sherlock Holmes with a very strange affair seeking answers..
- Sherlock finds this topic very strange and interesting, and also he tells him that he will give a conclusion on Monday.
- During the conversation Sherlock Holmes is seen making accurate observations that are: (1) Jabez Wilson (2) Jabez Wilson's Job (3) Vincent Spaulding (4) Mr. William Morris and Mr Duncan Ross.
Scene-2
- The scene opens with Holmes pacing in front of the pawnshop owned by Mr. Wilson. With his walking stick he hits the ground.
- Soon after, he knocks on the door of the shop and is greeted by Spaulding.
- Holmes asks Spaulding some directions to which Watson responds with confusion and questions.
- Holmes does not reveal any information regarding his observation but rather asks Watson to meet him at ten o’clock that night.
Scene-3
- In scene 2, after Holmes visits the pawnshop, he makes some observations about Spaulding that confirm that he was not who he said he was.
- In the third scene, we are introduced to two new characters –Jones, a detective and Duncan Ross, Spaulding’s accomplice.
- In this scene, we get a glimpse into how the real tricksters John Clay (Vincent Spaulding) and Duncan Ross are caught.
- The plan to capture the two thieves seemed foolproof and it was as both the thieves were caught red handed.
Scene-4
- In the opening of the fourth scene, we see Holmes and Watson sitting in chairs and engaged in discussion about the capture of the two criminals –John Clay and Duncan Ross.
- Holmes reveals that as soon as he found out that Spaulding was ready to work for half wages, he knew that something seemed suspicious.
- Holmes then narrates the whole scene to Watson taking him through how he joined the clues and solved the mystery.
- We see how Sherlock Holmes was intelligent, observant and alert at all times.
