The red ray lies at the top and violet ray lies at the bottom during dispersion of light,because -

• The red colour has the highest amount of wavelength among the seven colours of the spectrum.

• And,the violet colour has the lowest amount of wavelength among the seven colours of spectrum.

• That's why the red colour obtains largest amount of dispersion and double colour obtains the smallest amount of this dispersion.

• In this way,the red comes at the top of the spectrum and the violet comes at the bottom of the spectrum.
