you know that Iron is more electro positive than Copper. Or Copper is less reactive than Iron. So when an iron nail is dipped in a solutionof CuSO4, it displaces copper from theSolution, which gets deposited or precipitated as a red or red-brownresidue. Also the blue colour of thesolution gradually fades.
