The speed of Light in carbon disulphide is 1/163 times the speed of light in vacuum. The refractive index of a medium is a measure of the speed of light in that medium. It is expressed as a ratio of speed of light in vacuum relative to that in the medium under consideration.

hope it is easy to understand

velocity(v)

v of light in medium=v of light  in air/refractive index of that medium here we have 1.63

velocity of light in medium=3*10^8/1.63

velocity of light in medium=1.84*10^8
