the refractive index of any material is ratio of speed of light in vaccum(or air)to speed of light in the medium i.e, speed of light in vaccum/speed of light in medium.

now ,

speed of light in vaccum(or air )=3*10^8m/s(approx)

speed of light in medium=x(let)

refractive index=2.4

=> x=3*10^8/2.4
