\Large\underline{\underline{\sf \blue{Given}:}}

  • Refractive Index in Diamond = 2.42

  • Refractive Index in Glass = 1.5

\Large\underline{\underline{\sf \blue{To\:Find}:}}

  • How much faster does light travel in Glass than in Diamond.

\Large\underline{\underline{\sf \blue{Solution}:}}

We know that :-

\large{\boxed{\sf \mu=\frac{c}{v} }}

Here ,

\sf{\mu} = Refractive Index

c = velocity of light in air

v = velocity of light in Medium

_____________________________________

For Diamond :-

\implies{\sf \mu_d=\dfrac{c}{v}\:\:→(eq\:1)}

For Glass :-

\implies{\sf \mu_g=\dfrac{c}{v'}\:\:(eq\:2)}

Ratio of both Refractive Index :

\implies{\sf \dfrac{\mu_d}{\mu_g}=\dfrac{v'}{v} }

\implies{\sf \dfrac{2.42}{1.5}=\dfrac{v'}{v} }

\implies{\sf v'=1.613v }

\Large\underline{\underline{\sf \blue{Answer}:}}

•°• Light travels 1.613 times of Diamond medium faster in Glass medium.
