The answers to the questions are 1.153 and 0.867 respectively.

CALCULATION:

The refractive index of ice is given as \mu_{i} =1.3

The refractive index of glass is given as \mu_{g} =1.5

We are asked to calculate the refractive index of glass with respect to ice and refractive index of ice with respect to glass.

The refractive index of a medium 2 with respect to medium 1 is calculated as -

                                     \mu_{2}^1=\frac{\mu_{2}}{ \mu_{1}}

Hence, refractive index of glass with respect to ice is calculated as -

                                         \mu_{g}^a=\frac{\mu_{g}} {\mu_{i}}

                                                = \frac{1.5}{1.3}

                                                =1.153                                 [ans]

Similarly, refractive index of ice with respect to glass is calculated as -

                                              \mu_{i}^g=\frac{\mu_{i}} {\mu_{g}}

                                                     = \frac{1.3}{1.5}

                                                     = 0.867                         [ans]
