Given that, the refractive index of kerosene is 1.44 and the refractive index of rock salt is 1.54

We have to find the refractive index of rock salt with respect to kerosene.

Refractive index of air with respect to kerosene = (Speed of light in air)/(Speed of light in kerosene) = 1.44 ..............(A)

Similarly,

Refractive index of air with respect to rock salt = (Speed of light in air)/(Speed of light in alcohol) = 1.54 ...........(B)

So,

Refractive index of rock salt with respect to kerosene = (Refractive index of air with respect to rock salt)/(Refractive index of air with respect to kerosene)

Substitute value of (A) and (B) in the above formula,

Refractive index of rock salt with respect to kerosene = 1.54/1.44

= 1.069
