Applying Snell's law :

n =

 \frac{ \sin(i) }{ \sin(r) }

n = sin(24°)/sin(r)

sin(24°)/n = sin(r)

0.4/1.33= sin(r)

sin(r) = 0.3

sin(18°) = 0.3

so r = 18°

ii) Refractive Index of water = 1.33

Refractive Index of water = 1.33Applying Snell's law :

Refractive Index of water = 1.33Applying Snell's law :n = sin(i)/sin(r)

n = sin(53°)/sin(r)

sin(r) = sin(53°)/1.33

sin(r) = 0.8/1.33

sin(r) = 0.6

sin(37°) = 0.6

so r = 37°
