The answer is Shah Jahan.

The reign of Shah Jahan has been called as the “Golden Age of the Mughals”. This is because Shah Jahan carried out many works for the welfare of the public. There was peace throughout his reign and no fear of threat by foreigners. Trade and commerce flourished extensively and there was surplus revenue.

The emperor got many sarais, bridges, canals, roads and so on constructed for the benefit of the common man. He also adopted various relief measures for people suffering due to plague and famine.

Shah Jahan’s love for architecture saw the construction of various beautiful buildings such as the Taj Mahal and the Red Fort.
