The age of Shah Jahan(January 1628-July 1658) is considered to be the golden age in Mughal Empire because during his reign there was peace in the country. There were no foreign threats. He did a lot of work for the welfare of people like he constructed roads, canals, sarais etc.During famine, which broke out in Daccan(1630–1632),two million people died of starvation,he set up langer(free kitchens)for the victims of famine to relieve their pain.Trade and commerce flourished. There was a glorious progress in many fields of science like mathematics, medicine, astronomy etc.He was one of the greatest patrons of Mughal architecture. His famous constructioms include Taj Mahal,Delhi fort(red fort),Moti Masjid,Masjid Mahabat khan in Peshawar,Shalimar garden and he also had the Peacock throne.his reign has been describes by many historians as the Golden Age Of Mughal Empire.
