In adiabatic process no heat is exchnaged between the system and the surrounding

0 = dU + PdV

Or

d[a+bPV] +PdV = 0

bP dV + bV dP +P dV =0

(b+1)P dV + bV dP = 0

(b+1) dV/V + b dP/P = 0

(b+1) log V + b log P = constant

v^b+1×p^b

PV b+1/b = constant

Hence gamma = b+1/b
