The relation between the"energy" E and the freqency v of a photon is repressed by the equation E = hv , where h is plank's Writen down s_(t) = u + (a)/(2) (2t-1) , where u is initial of h and its dimensions.

The dimensions of h are [ M L² T⁻¹ ]

Given :

  • E = hv   where E is energy, v is frequency and h is plank's constant.

To find :

  • Dimensions of h.

Solution :

  • We rewrite the equation as, h = E/v
  • We can get the dimensions of h using dimensional analysis.
  • We know that E = work done

                                   = Force × Displacement

  • ∴ [E] = [Force] [Displacement]

                = [Mass][Acceleration][Displacement]

                = [M] [L T⁻²] [L]

                = [ M L² T⁻²]

  • Frequency is the reciprocal of time.
  • [v] = [ T⁻¹]
  • Hence, [h] = [ M L² T⁻²] / [ T⁻¹ ]

                     [h] = [ M L² T⁻¹ ]
