There are historical facts that create a framework for this particular relationship, though, and it would be a fantasy to pretend that these real world facts do not impinge upon the relationship. Currently, Scotland and England are territories which constitute large parts of a sovereign state called the “United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland”.
