Relative density = (density of the substance/ density of water)—————————1

Note - Care should be taken that the density of both are in same units.

As we know that

Density of water is 1 gm/cm^3

Now,

Let the density of Oak wood be x.

And according to question,

Relative density = 0.64

from equation 1.

Density of oak/ density of water = 0.64

x/density of water = 0.64

x/1 gm cm^-3 = 0.64

So x = 0.64 gm/cm^3

And we know that :

Density(in cgs)* 1000 = density (in SI)

So, 0.64 gm/cm^3 = 640 kg/m^3

Hope this will help.
