2x +1 = 0

=> x = -1/2

so, 2(-1/2)³ + 3(-1/2) +1

=> 2(-1/8) +3(-1/2) + 1

=> -1/4 -3/2 +1

=> -1-6/4 +1

=> -7/4 +1

=> -7+1/4 = -6/4 = -3/2

hence -3/2 is the remainder...
