solution

first we solve

m+n=8

m-n=6

simultaneously

m=7 and n=1

because

by letting m be the subject from eqn 2

⇒ m=6+n

then we put into m+n=8

⇒ 6+n+n=8

2n=8-6

2n=2

⇒ n=1

m=6+n

⇒ m=7

⇒ m=7 , n=1
