1. Define the term Renaissance. Give its meaning.

→ The Renaissance was a period in European history marking the transition from the Middle Ages to modernity and covering the 15th and 16th centuries. It occurred after the Crisis of the Late Middle Ages and was associated with great social change.  

Renaissance is a French word meaning “rebirth.” It refers to a period in European civilization that was marked by a revival of Classical learning and wisdom.

2.Mention the causes that led to the advent of Renaissance.

→ Several causes of the Renaissance in Europe which include , increased interaction between different cultures, the rediscovery of ancient Greek and Roman texts, the emergence of humanism, different artistic and technological innovations, and the impacts of conflict and death.

→ Vasco Da Gama  discovered the sea route to India in 17 May 1498 in Calicut.

→ Ferdinand Magellan was a Portuguese explorer who organised the Spanish expedition to the East Indies from 1519 to 1522, resulting in the first circumnavigation of the Earth, which was completed by Juan Sebastián Elcano.

Magellan wanted to prove that the world was round and through his explorations he DID prove that the Earth is round.
