Let the quantity of milk be x ltr.
and the quantity of water be y ltr.
from 1st condition,
x/y = 4/3
3x=4y
3x-4y=0               eqn 1

from 2nd conditon,
x/6+y=8/7
7x=8(6+y)
7x=8y+48
7x-8y=48            eqn 2

multiply eqn 1 by 2
6x-8y=0              eqn 3

subtracting eqn 2 & eqn 3
6x-8y=0
7x-8y=48
-x=-48
x=48
put x = 48 in eqn 1
3x48 - 4y = 0
- 4y = -144
y=-144/-4
y=36

The quantity of milk in original mixture is 48 ltr.
