Given :-

The respective ratio of the present age of x and y is 7:1. Four years ago the respective ratio of their age was 19:1.

To find : -

  • Age of x after 4 years

Solution : -

Let the present ages of x be 7A and y be A

  • 4 years ago
  • x's age = 7A - 4
  • y's age = A - 4

**According to the question**

→ 7A - 4/A - 4 = 19/1

→ 7A - 4 = 19(A - 4)

→ 7A - 4 = 19A - 76

→ 76 - 4 = 19A - 7A

→ 72 = 12A

→ A = 72/12 = 6

Therefore, x's age after four years

→ 7A + 4

→ 7 × 6 + 4

→ 42 + 4

→ 46 years

Answer:

Age of x after 4 yrs is 46 yrs .

Age of y after 4 yrs is 10 yrs .

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the ratio of present age of x and y be 7x : x

And 4yrs after be (7x + 4)/(x + 4)

And,

Four yrs ago,

Ratio of ages => (7x-4)/(x - 4 ) = 19/1.

=> 7x - 4 = 19( x - 4 )

=> 7x - 4 = 19x - 76

=> 76 - 4 = 19x - 7x

=> 72 = 12x

=> x = 72/12 = 6

Hence,

The age of x and y after 4 yrs from now be

(7x + 4) and x + 4

= (7×6+4) ( 6+4)

46 yrs and 10 yrs

Age of x after 4 yrs is 46 yrs .

Age of y after 4 yrs is 10 yrs .
