Organs that participate in the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide make up the respiratory system. The following are the individual components:

  • Nose
  • Mouth
  •  Throat
  • Mouth
  •  Larynx
  •  Trachea
  • Bronchi
  • Bronchioles
  • Lungs

Via the nose or mouth, air enters the respiratory system. The air is warmed and humidified when it enters the nose (sometimes called nares). The nasal passageways and other areas of the respiratory tract are protected by tiny hairs called cilia, which filter dust and other pollutants that enter the nose via inhaled air.
