Let the original number = x

Increased percentage =15%

Increased value =161

Original value (100+increased percentage)/100=increased value

x[(100+15)/100]=161

x×(115/100)=161

x=(161×100)/115

x=(23×7×5×20)/(23×5)

After cancellation

x=140

Therefore

Original value=x=140

Step-by-step explanation:

161×15/100 = 24.15

Now 161 - 24.15 is 135.85

So the number is 135.85
