Answer: 50 N

Explanation:

  • To calculate the resultant of the two  forces acting at an angle we have the formulae as F_{net}=\sqrt{F_{1}^{2}+F_{2}^{2}+2F_{1}F_{2}Cos\ \alpha    }
  • Where F_{1} and F_{2} are the two forces and  \alpha is the angle between them.
  • Given,  F_{1} = 30 N, F_{2} = 40 N and   \alpha = 90°.
  • Putting the value in the above formulae we get,

         F_{net}=\sqrt{30^{2}+40^{2}+2*30*40Cos\ \ 90    }

                 = \sqrt{900+1600+0}

                 = \sqrt{2500}

                 = 50 N

  • Hence, the resultant force is 50 N.
