The resultant of two vectors is perpendicular to one
of them and has the magnitude 4 m. If the sum of
the magnitude of two vectors is 8 m then their
respective magnitude are
(1) 4 m, 4 m
(2) 2 m, 6 m
(3) 3 m, 5 m
(4) 1 m, 7 m

Answer: answer is (3) i.e. 3m,5m.

Explanation:let one of the vector be a and other be b.

Now

a^2+4^2=b^2.....................(1)

And

a+b=8...................................(2)

From (1) and (2)

We get a=3 and b=5

Hope it was enough

Thanks

er:

If A=x

B=8-x

R=8

Using Pythagoras theorem

A^2+R^2=B^2

We got

x^2+16=(8-x)^2

X=3

Or, A=3

B=8-3=5
