The revolt of 1857 is a very revolutionary revolt as it sparked the spirit of getting independence from the British. It all started with the story of the greased cartridges. It was believed that the cartridge was greased with fat of pigs and cow. This was unholy for the Hindus, and dirty for the Muslims. It started on 10 may, 1857. It was a battle which turned out to rise the spirit of getting independence. The British sepoys formed rebellions, and the locals joined them. The British were about to lose the battle, so they oppresed the revolt and jailed many people.
