take an example like
Love Passing By
When the crimson rose has faded
And our day at last is done;
In the forest dark and shaded
Blows the tempest, dims the sun.
When the night holds us together
Shall forgiveness mend the past
Will despair bring sunny weather
And heal our hearts at last?
in this extract of poem u can see that the last word of evry line is as much as similar like faded-shaded like 2line is similar with 4th line done-sun
like u can see that after every line there is a similar word
next step marking the scheme 1line take as (a) and 2line as (b) and then word similar to each other abab

If you take any any line of the poem nd the 3 lines after it, then mark 1st nd 3rd lines as 'a' and 2nd n 4th line as 'b' then you will see that the last words of lines 'a' rhyme nd last words of lines 'b' rhyme and it will b like ab ab
