The river Euphrates originates in eastern turkey and has helped immensely in making life possible in ancient Mesopotamia.  It flows through Syria and Iraq and then afterwards It unites with the river Tigris in Shatt Al Arab and and empties into the Persian gulf. The Euphrates along with the Tigris are the two major defining rivers of ancient Mesopotamia. Life was made possible due to the Euphrates.
