The civilisation of Mesopotamia consisted mainly of the Sumerians and Akkadians which included the Assyrians and Babylonians. They were mentioned in the very early, written historical records of 3100 BC, which showed that they dominated Mesopotamia till its decline in 539 BC. Mesopotamia was mainly situated along the Euphrates – Tigris rivers in the modern-day Iraq. In its peak, it had spread over Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, parts of Turkey and Syria.
