the road not taken" poem is a metaphor because in this "poem author did direct comparison between two things .he compare the two roads.

narrator chose that road which was not chosen by all people earlier inspire of this narrator is fully confident on his decision.

Explanation:

in starting of the poem there is a tone / mood of disappointment because author was fail to take correct that which road was chosen to go which was not .

but later the mod/ tone of poem changes because author was now in the position of taking decision .
