What is a metaphor?

\implies A metaphor is an expression which describes a person or object in a literary way by referring to something that is considered to possess similar characteristics to the person or object you are describing.

Referring to the poem, "The Road not Taken", The road which was to be taken by the traveller acts as a metaphor for life.

The poem deals with dilemmas that one faces in his life. The poet here, wants to show the difficulties of choosing the correct path in a person's life because this very choice will make immense influences on the rest of his life.

In the poem, the speaker comes to a fork in a path between the woods. This is a metaphor of selection of the right path in a person's life.
