These rocks are formed by the sediments deposit by the process of weathering, erosion, deposition and finally compression.
Most of the sediments on the Sea is deposited by the river mouths and t
hence accumulated. The place where this phenomenon is taking place is known as Sedimentary basins. Sediments formation creates sink at the place of deposition.
Sedimentary can be of three types:-
- Clastic sedimentary- Those formed by the mechanical weathering of dust or soil particles.
Example - Sandstone, Siltstone etc.
- Chemical sedimentary rock - Those rocks formed from dissolved and precipitates from the solution.
Example - Iron ore, limestone etc.
- Organic sedimentary rock - These rocks are formed from the deposition of plants and animals debris.
Example - Coal, dolomites etc.
