. He was one of the rock solid supporters of Mahatma Gandhiji during and after the freedom struggle. And he carried on his mission till his death.
In Gandhiji's political journey, Sardar had been a keen adviser and an active participant. He was an important player of the Indian independence movement.
Earlier he had given up his busy legal practice to jump into politics and work for the freedom movement - similar to many of his contemporaries
He had been an active player in the movements in Gujarat (Champaran, Kheda etc). He was a key player in the Quit India movement as well.
His greatest contribution came after winning the independence - when he took up and successfully completed the mission of uniting the princely states with the Union.
