Over the years, many veterinarians have been playing challenging roles to help improve the livelihood, safety, and food security.

Many veterinarians have played significant roles and contributed towards animal and human health, their welfare, food quality, food security, food safety, ecology, biomedical research, ethology, epidemiology, parasitology, microbiology, psychology, pathology, physiology, and radiology.

They have also contributed towards research and development of pharmaceuticals, vaccines, remedies, and in the toxicology department. They have also been playing the role of educators, trainers, and policymakers, work along with the wildlife conservation teams for the protection of the environment and biodiversity.

Veterinarians are responsible for maintaining the quality of animal products at all stages. A large part of population in India depends on cattle for food. Veterinarians play a crucial role in maintaining the health and environment of those cattle by  

• Preventing diseases and controlling the death rate in farm animals.
• Improving the health of animals that consequently lead to the welfare of people who depend on them.
• Maintaining the livestock population and livelihood of people.
• Creating awareness among the people about new cattle diseases and cure.  
• Ensuring the safety of the food that obtained from animals.
