the roof of a building is 8 metre high. A rope is tied from the roof to a peg on the ground 6m away from the wall. what is the minimum length of the rope?

as height of building will be perpendicular and distance from wall to rope will be base and required length of rope will be hypotenuse.so by pthagorus theorem of hypotenuse = √(perpendicular square +base square ).

hypotenuse or length of rope = √(8m × 8m + 6m × 6m )
√( 64 square m + 36 square m )
= √( 100 square metres )
= 10 m.
