First of all root means the zero of the solution or the value by which when variable is replaced then the L.H.S=R.H.S

So here,

L.H.S=Z/4

R.H.S=-8

since we need to find root

L.H.S=R.H.S

Z/4=-8

Z=-32

Simple mathematics but very important would suggest to go through the rd sharma book of your respective class to strengthen your concept
