The roots a and ß of the quadratic equation x2-5x+3(k-1)=0 are such that a-
B=1. Find the value k.​

α + β = 5 --- (1)

α - β = 1 --- (2)

Solving (1) and (2), we get

α = 3 and β = 2

Also αβ = 6

Or 3(k - 1) = 6

k - 1 = 2

k = 3
