SOLUTION :

Given :

x² + 2ax + (a² - b²) = 0

(x² + 2ax + a²) - (b²) = 0

(x)² + 2a×x + (a)² - b²

(x + a)² - (b)² = 0

[(a)² + 2ab + (b)² = (a + b)²]

(x + a - b) (x + a + b) = 0

[ a² - b² = (a - b)(a + b)]

x + a - b = 0 or x + a + b = 0

x = -a + b or x = -a - b

Hence, the value of x is (-a +b) or (-a-b)
