$d = b {}^{2} - 4ac$

$\: b = 2(k - 12) \: a = (k - 12) \: c = 2$

putting values ....

$(2k - 24) {}^{2} - 4(k - 12)(2) = 0$

$4k {}^{2} + 576 - 96 - 8k + 96 = 0$

$4k {}^{2} - 8k + 576 = 0$
After factorising above equation we will get values of k.
