x² + 10x + 13 = 0
use formula ,

x = { -b ±√(b²-4ac)}/2a

then,
x = { -10±√(100-52)}/2

= -5±2√3

compare given equation with ax²+bx +c=0
a=1 , b= 10 , c=13

D = b² - 4ac =(10)² - 4*1*13= 100 -52 = 48

√D = √48 = √4*4*3 = 4√3

x= (-b + or - √D)/2a

x=( -10 +4√3)/2 or x= (-10 -4√3)/2
x=-5+2√3  or x= -5 -2√3
