The Supreme Court of India has declared that Rule of Law is a basic and key feature of our constitution. The Rule of Law covers all subjects, people, organisations and entities equally and follows the framework laid down by the International Human Rights.

The two key principles of Rule of Law are equality and accountability. Everyone is considered as equal, with no differentiation or preference, whatsoever. It is considered that they are responsible and accountable for all their actions.

The Rule of Law falls somewhere between justice and human rights.

While we see that justice and human rights does clash, the Rule of Law, as set by the UN, bridges the gap between these two as it states that every being, entities, institution and the states are accountable to the laws that are consistent with the international human rights and is enforced equally.

To ensure this, there are three principles of this Rule:

1) Complete and thorough investigation.

2) Refraining from meting out criminal justice for a political expression.

3) Effective protection for whistleblowers against governments.
