It was the Humanyun-the second mughal emperor and the son of Babur who received the Kohinoor diamond (the light of mountain) from the ruler of Gwalior.

According to some sources, the raja of Gwalior was killed by Babur in First Battle of Panipat in 1526.After the conquest of Delhi, he sent Humayun with an advance army to march on Agra where he was greeted by the wives of raja of Gwalior who brought their jewels along with Kohinoor diamond to appropriate Humayun.
