Avadh or Oudh.
Explanation:
The English East India Company during its control on India adopted a policy of annexing the Indian Princely States, this policy came to be known as the Doctrine of Lapse. By adopting this policy, Dalhousie annexed the territories of various princely states such as
Satara (1848)
Jaitpur
Sambalpur (1849)
Nagpur and Jhansi (1854)
Tore and Arcot (1855)
Udaipur (Chhattisgarh).
Though Avadh was also annexed following the same policy Dalhousie used the pretext of misgovernance for the annexation of Oudh.
